When we started raising broiler chickens, our first priority was to raise them in their natural habitat: outside on the grass where the birds can peck, scratch, and forage. Therefore, as soon as the birds feather out they spend the rest of their lives out on pasture. In addition to getting certified organic feed every morning we move the birds to a fresh salad bar of legumes, grasses, bugs, grubs and worms.
